Teresa D. Robertson is a seasoned licensed clinician. She earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1999 and has been in the counseling field since. After practicing in Illinois for over eighteen years she moved to Florida, where she now continues to practice. She is licensed in the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and in the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Teresa’s experience consists of individual, family, and couples/marital counseling with children, adolescents, and adults. Knowledgeable in assessing and treating a variety of mood and behavior difficulties such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and other stress related disorders. Also, experienced in areas of divorce, parenting, relationships, bullying, grief/loss, changes, and transitions which can impact healthy functioning in many ways including at work, school, home, socially, and emotionally. Teresa strives to provide an environment where clients can feel safe to share their concerns and address issues. For many, this is difficult, however, Teresa’s empathic and caring attitude helps to assist with the therapeutic process.

Teresa provides high quality care with professional and ethical standards. She honors sensitive nature of client information and embraces social/cultural differences. She demonstrates the desire to understand a client’s individual experience with a genuine and non-judgmental attitude. Teresa’s approach to therapy involves person-centered principles, as she values the client/therapist working relationship. With this, she utilizes an integrative approach consisting of a variety of therapeutic techniques. Some include, cognitive-behavior techniques that focus on changing unhealthy thinking and behavior patterns. Others include, EMDR, stress reduction skills, behavior modification, mood regulation skills, self-awareness, self-esteem building, and play therapy. Treatment is based on individual needs and with client collaboration. Many of these techniques are modified for children and others with developmental challenges. Teresa strives to create an environment that promotes growth and positive change so clients can move forward in productive ways.

Upon the first visit, Teresa will greet you and have intake forms for you to complete. She encourages you to come at least twenty minutes before your first appointment to complete the forms and pay the counseling fee of $95/hour with cash, credit or debit card. She will be accepting some insurances in the near future.
